Valborg Wiinka was an author passionate about educating and preserving the Sami heritage. Valborg and her husband founded the Valborg and Bertil Wiinkas foundation, and in her passing she donated collections of unique sami tools and objects to the county museum.
This assignment was initally reffered to me by Susanne Helt Enkelt Kommunikation.
Umesamiska is one of the sami dialects of the sami language specific to the area around Västerbotten in the north of Sweden. The author was developing a language book to preserve the dialect and that could also work to teach the sami language to beginners.
I was asked to layout the texts and create illustrations to complement the texts. I was given a style guide for the illustrations and instructions for color scheme to work with.
